         How One Live Demo Session on Digital Marketing by Strategyworks Changed My Life


            As a kid, I was always engrossed in computers and anything that had to do with the digital medium. I learned how to operate a computer before I even learned how to ride a bicycle. While the kids my age were out playing games like cricket, I was deeply invested in my own little rabbit hole, my PC. I had accustomed myself to the know-how of using a PC very early on in my childhood.

          While growing up, as my interest in digital mediums bloomed, the more captivated I was by it. At the end of my last year in Bharat College I was introduced to various TISS courses, one of them being the Digital Marketing course. This course caught my attention almost immediately. That day, I spent my entire time searching about everything related to digital marketing and was rapt with the new world that opened before my eyes.

           During my research, the thing that left me dumbfounded the most was that almost all digital marketing courses costed at least around 10,000 rupees while some renowned institutes providing this course demanded fees up to even 50,000 rupees, but the digital marketing course by TISS was merely 250 rupees. During COVID-19, where the financial situations of many households are already on the verge of collapse, it was like music to my ears. After my research, I came to the conclusion that whatever the case may be, I cannot miss out on this amazing opportunity that was provided to me. Hence, without any hesitation and with increased eagerness, I enrolled in the course.





          Before the course started, I got myself familiar with the topic so that on the first day of my class, I wouldn't feel nervous or unprepared. I studied the subject on my spare time by browsing on the net, reading some articles, watching YouTube videos, etc. And the more I learned about it, the more I thought that it was something that I wanted to do. 

         Then came the day that I had been waiting for, for a long time; the very first lecture of the Digital Marketing course.

         On my very first day of the class, I remember quite vividly that Jayant sir didn't teach us anything related to the course but wanted to know more about us, who we were, why we enrolled in the course, etc. The first lecture was an introductory lecture, where he took the time to introduce himself first and then made every other student do the same. At first I was confused as to why he did this, but as time went on, I understood that it was to break the ice on our first meeting. 

         It's a very bizarre concept, where on your first meeting you could get along completely with some stranger. There is an invisible force of pressure mixed with some awkwardness one experiences when one meets someone for the first time. The same was the case for us when we met Jayant sir, but in order to make us students feel relaxed and at ease, he made an effort by sharing some of his experiences with us. Establishing a friendly relation with us right from the start. By the time the first lecture ended, every student had already contributed to the conversation and was already quite comfortable.

         As the lectures continued, I got an in-depth knowledge about what Digital Marketing is and why it is so important in today's digital climate.  

         During our second lecture, we started our course with a module named "Introduction to Digital Marketing" where we learned a lot about the digital media as well as traditional media, their differences, strengths, weaknesses, etc. Jayant sir not only explained it eloquently through his words but also through the use of visual means such as powerpoint presentations and highlighting the points accordingly on the notepad. During the whole lecture he always made it so that we would get the best experience.


What Digital Marketing is and Why you should know it better:-





         Digital Marketing is a form of marketing that is carried out through online, i.e., digital means. This marketing is achieved by different types of digital channels such as search engines, social media, e-mails and other websites. With the surge in digital technology, including the widespread use of computers and mobiles, digital marketing has emerged as a crucial marketing medium. 

Currently, digital marketing is as important, if not more so, than traditional marketing medium. This divide will only grow further with time as many businesses are switching from traditional marketing to digital marketing. Hence, it is only obvious that people would dabble in the topic of digital marketing and get to know it better.


What topics are important to learn and practice:-


         Digital Marketing is a very broad term which encompasses a lot of different fields, which a mastery in any one or two subjects is not only essential but also rewarding at the same time. To be a successful digital marketer, you need to have some necessary skills and knowledge on topics such as Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Social Media Marketing (SMM), E-mail Marketing, Mobile Marketing and Web Analytics, etc. These topics are the fundamental building pillars of digital marketing, having a basic mastery in these topics is required.

But only learning is not enough, digital marketing is an ever-changing industry where you have to be quick on your feet, otherwise you would be left behind. It goes back to the same old motto we have been hearing for our whole life, which is "Practice makes man perfect".





How this Digital Marketing course Changed my Life:-


        Enrolling in this digital marketing course proved to be a pivotal point in my life, as I could incorporate what I do as a hobby, and try to implement it in my future career. The reason behind me taking this course initially was my passion for computers and the digital medium, while albeit that is true, but as the time went on, I realized that there was another reason which made me certain, that reason being my lifelong hobby, i.e., drawing. 

        Since I was a kid I would watch cartoons on T.V and be amazed by the art on it, this inspired me to make my own art. I had many drawing books filled with my art, sometimes even my class notebook's end pages would be filled with it. Whenever I got bored from studying, I would draw, the contents on the back of the book mattered more to me than the contents in front. 

        The day that changed my life was just like any random day, on that day, I logged in for the lecture not expecting anything out of the ordinary. But on that particular day, Jayant sir randomly asked us students about our hobbies. When finally it was my turn to speak, I naturally told him about my hobby of drawing, but what I did not expect was that he went into detail about the career scope of an artist who wants to become a digital marketer, what to expect, which sites to visit, etc. And then, just for the sake of it, he advised me to undertake 3D animation rather than 2D animation as 3D animation is in demand for advertising purposes and has a lot of career scope. 

       This conversation with him sparked a flame in my heart to learn about 3D animation. 

       Now, I have been learning 3D animation since August 2021 and am proud to show you some of the works I've done for 3D animation.

     Digital marketing is a field that undergoes changes on a regular bases. Many new trends and software updates make it so that if you don't practice your skills and revise your knowledge on the latest statistics, you would be left behind. A successful digital marketer is someone who not only tries to tread new grounds but someone who also polishes his already established skills in his arsenal. Blogs such as Moz, IIM SKILLS, Kissmetrics, etc., help in understanding the current climate of digital marketing. These websites have many upcoming articles on the latest changes and modifications and help you stay updated with the latest trends.  

       Digital Marketing is a field which requires tremendous practice and hands on experience. But before this, you need to have an in-depth knowledge of the subject in order to think in an innovative manner and be creative as regards the implementation of several strategies and going further with the thought process of looking out for newer ways to reach out to the customer. Hence, to be relevant in the digital marketing industry, one has to keep on practicing.

1) SEO Specialist

SEO ( Search Engine Optimizer) is one of the most important professions in digital marketing. Their job is to optimize and drive relevant traffics to the websites. This is a difficult job as search engine algorithms keep changing, and SEO specialists have to adjust and reorganize their strategies. Their main objective is to keep the website they are optimizing on the top of the very first page of the search engines.


Businesses who want their websites at the top invest in strong SEO expert individuals as their work ensures relevant traffic and organic leads. The SEO profession is set to grow even more in importance as search engines become more smarter. Therefore, it is one of the best professions to consider.
